Mr. E. J. Damon
St. Louis-San Francisco Railway Company
Law Department
906 Olive Street
St. Louis 1, Missouri
Dear Mr. Damon:
In regard to a Naval Acadenty appointment
for Edward M. Harrington, Jr., about which you
recently wrote the Vice President. The Vice President
directed me to assure you that this boy will get every
consideration when our next vacancy occurs.
As you may know the Vice President has the
same number of appointments to West Point and Annapolis
as a Senator has. While we can never tell when an
emergency vacancy will occur, at present all spots are
filled and we have no routine appointment for another
two years.
Sincerely yours,
Harry H. Vaughan
Colonel
Military Aide to the
Vice President
