MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF THE NATIONAL ALLIANCE OF POSTAL EMPLOYTES: It is e very grest pleasure for me to be able to appear before you for a few minutes today. I congratulate you on your Silver Anniversary. I an told that you are grestly indebted to a very able colored man, now decensed, for wuoh of the auccess of this orgenization. I pay tribute to Mr. Gayney, who was en honorable end upright citizon and who did honor to the postal service and to this organization. You of this orgenization have the greatest opportunity possible for great service to your people. You can mank do more to make ell of us realize that you are an caset to a community than nearly any other organization with which I have como in contact. You rub elbowa every day with all the people, end your service and courtesy creste respect. Thers has never been a tise in the history or the nation when you have had a greater friend and aympathiser in the White House then you now have. Frenklin D. Roosevelt reslizes your problems and is mora sympathetic with their solution then eny Chief Executive since Abraham Lincoln. I en not one who believes that you require white uglifiers to molve your probless. I believe thet 1f you are given the opportunity, you are perfectly cepoble of solving them youreelves. You have groat lecders end great scientints, great dectore and great toathers, who know the way and who are doing more to ereate en understanding than all the uplifters put together. 1 want particularly to mention e grost scientist of your race -- George Wahington Cerver of Georgie.
