THE SECRETARY OF STATE
WASHINGTON 25, D. c.
DEPARTMENT OF STATE
WASHINGTON
August 30, 1951
a
MEMORANDUM FOR MRS. HELM:
I am attaching a tentative program for the visit
of Princess Elizabeth and her husband, which, you will
note, has been approved by the President and is being
submitted to the Princess for her approval.
As far as we can ascertain at the moment, those
staying at Blair House in addition to the Princess and
the Duke would be an equerry, a lady-in-waiting, a maid
and a valet. Their names are not yet available.
Since the equerry and ady-in-waiting accompany
the Princess and the Duke at all times, I would assume
that they would return to Blair House after the recep-
tion at the National Press Club.
The matter of the equerry and lady-in-waiting being
present at the private luncheon on Thursday, October 25
is, at the present time, being taken up with the Princess
and we will 1et you know as soon as possible as to her
decision.
It is planned that the dinner given by the President
and Mrs. Truman will be the usual small one of eighteen
persons, white tie.
Müir
Acting Chief of Protocol
Enclosure:
Tentative program.
