Dear Mrs. Helm:
MRS. HELM
I have not as yet received a reply
to my letter of December 15th in which I enclosed
a persona letter to the Truman family and asked,
as a special request, that you deliver it to Mrs.
Truman.
AS this letter was not of a social
but personal nature, I expected the courtesy of
your complying with my request. I'm quite sure
that The President or rs.Truman would not con-
sider a letter from friends and former neighbors
in Independence too insignificant to answer if
they were given the privilege of reading the
same. Mrs. Odom, the former Social Secretary,
was also negligent as you have evidently been,
in not bringing our letter to Mrs. Truman's at-
tention. My letter last year to iss Margaret
was three months or more in coming to her atten-
tion.
Of course, there are friends and
neighbors in Independence who will be glad to
deliver our personal message to the Truman
family if you cannot promptly attendto this
