On Sunday November ?1., 1963 at 11:15 are Cantain Fritz, Lt. R. i. Swain,
Tet. J. R. Lcavalle, Det. 1.. ". Graves and my eelf escorted Oswald from Captain
Fritz's office to the jeil elevator. Det. 'eavelle had been handcuffed to
Oswald. Fatrolman C. G. Lewis, Jr., was the clevator operator as we carried
Gswald down from the 3rd floor of the city holl to the basement. When we got
off of the clevator in the basement, It. F. 1% -wain walked out in front of
Captain Fritz. Let. Leavelle was to Oswald's right and Dot. Graves was to
Oswald's left, and I W&S in back of Oswald about three fect as we approached
the door leading from the basement and joil office. Captain Fritz told us to
stop, that he was poing to check one more time. The captain said, "All right,
come on." ise walked out of the door leading from the basement jail office to
the ramp where the cars come down into the basement. We had to stop approximately
five feet from the driveway of the ramp recause the car was not in position.
When we stopped I saw a Flur of something and heard a thot. I went around
Tet. Graves and grathed Jack Ruby ty the head. At the time I grabbed Puby by
the head he was being held hy :.... Parrison, T. D. Mclillon, R. L. Lowery and
v.
J. Cutshaw. Ne forced Puby to the Fround and a check was made for the
wenpon. Ve then moved Rub: into the pasement jail office and put him back on
the floor being held down by the same officers. While being held down on the
floor of the basement jail office, Puby said, "I hope I killed the son-of-a-
bitch." I asked Chief Batchelor if we had better get Ruby on the elevator
and get him up into the jail. Chiof Batchelor said yes, and Ruby was taken to
the olevator. I then went to where Oswald was lying on the jail office floor.
A doctor was applying artificial respiration. The ambulance people arrived
and loaded úswald on the cot, and I went with the cot to the ambulance.
