About one half hour after WHALEN's and\nFERRIE's arrival, a short fat man wearing dark glasses arrived)\nThis man was introduced to WHALEN by SHAW as DEAN ANDREWS, ANDREWS\nand SHAW had some conversation away from FIRRTI and WHALEN and\nshortly thereafter ANDREWS left the apartment. SHAW then returned\nto WHALEN and continued to try to persuade him. SHAW said that he\nhad done some checking on WHALEN and that he knew of WHALEN's\ncrippled daughter - she suffered from polio. SHAW said that t if\nWHALEN would go through with the plan he would get WHALEN'S daughter\nthe finest medical treatment money could buy, and also see to it\nthat she was sent to college. However, WHALEN insisted that he\nwould not KIII a District Attorney, and he and FERRIE left.\nOnce outside, FERRIE told WHALEN that CLAY BERTRAND\ncould do a lot for him and that he was making a mistake. Also at\nthis time FERRIE spoke of LEE OSWALD. He said that SHAW (BERTRAND)\nhad done a lot for OSWALD, and that it was only because OSWALD\nfouled up that he was killed. He intimated that SHAW had given\nOSWALD some financial support and had contacted some people in\nmy\nCuba and Mexico for him.\nAven in ser commission name for with David Farri!\nwith\nAt this timé ha also mentioned the name of SENATOR\nJOHN TOWER of Texas and DANTE MAROCHINI FERRIE boasted that he\nhad set up the assassination of John Kennedy. WHALEN stated that\nrequest\nhe did not believe these statements. He felt FERRIE was merely\nChysic\nboasting and name-dropping in an attempt to get him to change his\nmind. FERRIE also mentioned the meeting between SHAW JACK RUBY,\n\"IF=\nand LEE HARVEY OSWALD in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. FERRIE stated\nthat OSWALD was an agent of the CIA and received money from them\nfor\nat one time. He seemed to take pleasure from the irony OF the\nfact that OSWALD had worked for a United States Government agency\nat one time and that he later Killed the leader of that government,\nbe\nFERRIE also stated that they had been alven \"inside\" information\nfrom DEAN ANDREWS that Jim Garrison was about to start an investi-\ncan 10)\n5\ngation into the assassination of President John Fun Kennedy. WHALEN\ninsisted he wanted nothing to do with the plan and he left.\nof\nThat night, the night before Mardi Gras 1965, WHALEN\ncaught a plane for Atlanta, Georgia. That very month he committed\nan armed robbery of a Federal Savings and Loan Association in West\nPalm Beach, Florida, and was apprehended.
