Thursday, march 6
Day started with a schedule snafer -and
stayed pretty well screwed up. Problem was P beat
(this crew in- and the schedule they had left on his
desk was wrong. He started out with K- then added
Rogers- re ABM and used up all the time tel start
of UAC. It was screwed up because Moymilan had
not properly staffed the agenda - and had snuck in
a 4- page release + a new volunteer plan. P. pretty
upset. Hope our plan for E to oversee domestic
matters will overcome this
P. met with Scranton to try to persuade him to
take over OEO according toE, P. gave him complete
contid of everything - 'tl John snatched it back
P. gone most of the afternoon for Uncle Ernest's
funeral in Pa.
I had a couple of sessions in between He's
trying to figure a way to get over our activities -
accomplishments in the domestic aua. Celso going
weekend to see the property. Some further talk
back foath on whether to go to Caby for the
re office decor. I met again with Women
guy - they'll take on the project P. ordered
name change from the mansim to the Desidence.
Stans worred about details of his European
mission - P. wants him to work it out wylet state
P. decided to drop idea of Vatican representative.
GOP leadership meeting for cocktails in the
litrary -fire waring, very homey. General discussion
of campus disorders, Finch HEW school problem, special
election in Tenn., ABM, NPT and electral reform.
Not much progress
I had dinner date with Finch in the mess- 1/L way
through phone rang- - Pashed us to join him for dinner -
told him we'd come for dessert Went to Residence - P. alone
in Lincoln setting room eating dinner on TV table by theffice
Sad trying to escape Helene Drown. was in great
spirits Talked for couple of Lours- mainly about HEW
problems and some politics Decided not to got Calif.
Pushing hard to as something ue: campus dis orders
Doesn't want to let Reagan get the whole ride on
this issue Leadus usged this too Probably will make
radio address.
