87 Satunday maid 15 P. arrived in his office at 8:00 - -and bugged for for I took the day off for house hunting with Jo. me. Elmer called to tell me - and I ashed operator to call P- she said he was probably alleep cause had been up as labeas 4:00 AM I told her he was in the office - she was amazed rang t he answered I told heir Iwasat home & he insisted I take day off with fo Apparently although he had from 10-12- and left he kept E busy all day answering his calls - office about 1:30 for a sevin and to the residence. Tonite was the Gridin Fariey good show - but pretty strained P. was great at the end- - with a serious note- frient a foast to Earl Waven then remarks rewar need for peace, etc. brought on by his appearance at am. begin denier (which he duched out to drop by t light the Unknam Soldier Tomb).He then went to several of the cocktail parties afterward. Sunday march 16 another day off more or less Took to to W.H. church service - then some time in W. Wing with the people u decorating. Then off for a little more before the dadies re-play of the Midrion Then from there to WH for surprise birthday party fn P.N. Beautiful party the was really surprised made grand entiance with family to what she thought was stag party. Hadall the close in State D.R. Highlight was Singing Strings friends - receiving line dinner at round tables during dessart - -then toasts - Elmer Bobst paid wonderful tribute top. - as did Bill Rogus. Rose toasted P.N. - - as P. started first toast after cake came in PN said wait tel I blow out candles TeJ angd -and it worked out very well!
