VISIT OF THE 1969 POSTER CHILD
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF HEARING
AND SPEECH AGENCIES
THE WHITE HOUSE
THURSDAY, APRIL 24, 1969
THE PRESIDENT:
At 11:45 a. m. you will be escorted from your office to the
steps of the Rose Garden where you will be greeted by Mr. Tom
Buelter, Director of Public Information for the National Association
of Hearing and Speech Agencies. Mr. Buelter will then introduce
you to those standing with him:
David Lupi (age 2 1/2), Poster Child
Major Joseph Lupi, U. S. Army, father
Mrs. Grace Lupi, mother
Invited guests:
E. B. Porter, NAHSA staff member
Judith Gilliom, NAHSA staff member
Sally Grassi, NAHSA staff member
Sheran Smith, NAHSA staff member
-Marvel Coleman, wife of the executive director NAHSA
Arita Buelter, wife of director of public relations, NAHSA
Jamil Toubbeh, Counselor, Department of HEW
Karen Luszak, David Lupi's teacher
After you have greeted your guests there will be a brief photo
session with you and the poster child on the Rose Garden steps.
NOTE:
You have today issued a written endorsement
of May as Hearing and Speech Month.
David Lupi is deaf and attends the pre-school
program at Gallaudet College.
