Adjustment Assistance Split Vote
of the Tariff Commission
Attached are two recommendations from Ambassador Gilbert:
(1) that you consider the votes of the Tariff Commissioners voting
in the affirmative as the findings of the Commission in one worker
case where the Commission is split evenly (Tab C); and (2) that you
do the same for one firm case (Tab D).
Also included is a draft press release (Tab E).
Approval of these two cases has been unanimously recommended by the
Inter-Agency Trade Committee, which includes STR, Agriculture,
Commerce, Defense, Interior, Labor, State, and Treasury. In addi-
tion this has the concurrence of OMB and Messrs. Flanigan and
Ehrlichman.
RECOMMENDATION
That you decide these cases in the affirmative and sign the letters to
the Secretary of Labor (Tab A) and the Secretary of Commerce (Tab B).
