THE PRESIDENT HAS SEEN CORRECTED REVISED COPY ARMED FORCES DAY ATTACK CARRIER STRIKING GROUP VISIT Saturday, May 17, 1969 THE PRESIDENT: 11:20 A. M. Depart from the South Lawn by helicopter 12:40 P. M. Fly-by of ships with SARATOGA. The crews of the 14-ship formation will be manning the rail. 12:50 Arrive on board the U.S.S. SARATOGA (CVA-60). Commence full military honors. Piped through sideboys Meets Admirals Proceed to platform Ruffles and flourishes National Anthem 21-gun salute Inspect the guard Return to platform 1:00 Complete full military honors. You will be escorted to a seat on the flight deck of the carrier to observe the anti-air warfare fire power demonstration. Talos, Terrier and Tartar surface-to-air missiles will be fired against drone jet aircraft by ships in company. 1:05 Concurrent with anti-air warfare power demonstration, the nuclear attack submarine HADDO will make a run close aboard partially submerged and will fire a live SUBROC (ASW) missile. 1:30 Complete anti-air warfare . Note: USS SAMPSON (DDG-10) will come alongside for a 5 to 7 minute narrative description of a guided missile destroyer if a lull occurs in missile firing. Note: During the missile firing demonstration, you will be introduced to several enlisted petty officers, junior officers, and pilots from the SARATOGA. These men will represent all departments from the ship and the Air Group. The pilots will be in their flight gear and will be the ones who will be in the airshow.
