ALL STAR GAME RECEPTION
THE WHITE HOUSE
Tuesday, July 22, 1969
The President:
At 4:00 p.m. you will be escorted from your office to the elevator in
the Residence. You will proceed from the elevator to the red carpet
in the Grand Hall where you will pause facing the East Room while
ruffles and flourishes are played. As "Hail to the Chief" is played,
you will proceed through the Grand Hall and the East Room and onto
the raised platform which will be positioned in the center of the east
wall where a single stand-up microphone will be provided for you.
The dress is business suit.
You will deliver brief remarks at the conclusion of which Baseball
Commissioner Bowie Kuhn will present you with an award as Baseball's
Number One Fan, and Mr. Warren C. Giles, President of the National
League of Professional Baseball Clubs, will present to you a solid gold
Lifetime Pass for the National League Parks. You will acknowledge
both awards and then will greet your approximately 450 guests.
NOTE:
Suggested remarks have been prepared for your use.
There will be television and press pool coverage of your remarks
and the receiving line.
When you have greeted the last of your guests at approximately 5:00 p. m.,
you will be escorted to the Family Quarters of the Residence.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Your guests will be served refreshments in the State Dining
Room and Blue Room. Cocktails will be served in the East
Room, Grand Hall and parlors throughout the reception.
