(Lezar) RP July 27, 1971 SUGGESTED REMARKS: DELEGATES TO BOYS NATION It has never been easy to be a man of conscience, to be the man who advances the progress of tomorrow's America because he knows what is right about the America of today and of yesterday. And, though change is steady and sure in a conscientious nation, it is never easy for the individual to be a man of patience so that he can persuade, debate and peacefully promote the ideas he believes in. But the give and take of democracy still remain our strength and our hope. All of you know the sweet and sour taste of debate -- sometimes you win, sometimes you lose -- but through Boys Nation you have cer- tainly come to know much more. You have certainly learned that as individuals are diverse, SO must a nation be diverse. You know that a consensus of diverse persons is a truly remarkable and beautiful thing - a unity without constraint, progress free from fear because what we do together as a free Nation is better than what any of us could do alone for an unfree Nation. Of course, many will scoff at your faith in America, at your orderly attempts to better America at the expense of no one but for the benefit of everyone.
