Dress: Business Suit and afternoon dresses for the ladies
Sequence of Events:
5:00 p.m.
Your guests will arrive and proceed to the East Room.
Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
5:10 p.m.
You proceed from the Oval Office to the Residence
meet Mrs. Nixon in the Family Quarters and proceed
together down the elevator and into the Grand Hall
pause just outside the entrance to the East Room for
Honors and announcement
you and Mrs. Nixon enter
the East Room together as "Hail to the Chief" is played
You will make brief remarks to your guests from a platform
which will be positioned against the east wall of the East
Room. Mrs. Nixon will stand beside you on the platform.
NOTE: A single stand-up microphone will be provided
for you. Your remarks will be recorded for the Presi-
dential Archives only.
5:20 p.m.
At the conclusion of your remarks, you will depart the
East Room. Mrs. Nixon will remain in the East Room
to mingle informally with your guests.
5:30 p.m.
Mrs. Nixon is escorted to the Family Quarters.
NOTE:
Suggested remarks are attached.
PRESS PLAN:
There will be no press coverage of this event. An official
White House photographer will be present.
