this kind, he speaks on behalf of all the American people.
He speaks all the more strongly, and is more effective,
when he can point to vigorous and widespread support for his goals.
In this regard, I want to thank the many thousands of people
who wrote and wired and telephoned the White House in the past week
with their messages of support, and their prayers for peace.
