Price NINTH DRAFT April 28, 1974 WATERGATE Good evening. Almost two years ago, in June 1972, six men broke into the offices of the Democratic National Committee here in Washington. It turned out that they were connected with my Re- - Election Committee, and the Watergate break-in became a major issue in that campaign. I ordered that the full resources of the FBI and the Justice Department should be used to investigate the incident thoroughly. The FBI conducted more than (1600) interviews. I instructed my staff and campaign aides to cooperate fully. For nine months -- until March, 1973 -- I was assured by those charged with conducting and monitoring the investigations that no one in the White House was involved.
