RN to meet Heath in Bermuda December 20 -- ABC lead where
international trade problems are emphasized; brief note by other
nets and Sevareid commentary less than enthusiastic over summitry.

US balance of payments suffers worst month ever (NBC lead) and
Admin attributes it largely to dock strike as courts begin issuing
back-to-work orders.

Dow-Jones makes biggest jump in over 3 months -- up 18 points
(CBS lead) and spurred by rise in leading indicators which was
1.2% or 6 times the Sept. increase. Also helping market:
lengthier workweeks; decline in requests for unemployment com-
pensation and movement against dock strike.

India-Pakistan conflict continues in apparently light engagements
as Bangla-Desh rebels are reportedly bringing under control sizable
chunks of E. Pakistan.

PRC at UN blasts Soviets for Malik's previous criticism of Chiao's
Wed. attack on Soviet disarmament conference -- - opposition to which
US joins PRC Friday.

Major film reports on all nets on the peaceful, quick end to Rahway,
New Jersey prison rebellion -- marked contrast to Attica tho Cahill
refused to make comparisons. Much credit to the Gov. (Lengthy
film on all nets.)
