of withdrawal of 6,000 GIs there when VN is over -- perhaps by
year's end,
Note of Buckley, Ashbrook and Soviet criticisms
by 2 nets.

Senate reverses self on Griffin move to prevent courts from
ordering busing. 50-47 defeat followed by 63-34 ok of the much
milder Scott-Mansfield proposal. NBC/CBS lead with Griffin on
all 3 feeling that Supreme Court must have got message to slow the
bus down.

Gov't case at Berrigan trial again overshadowed as defense reports
informer Douglas asked for $50,000 payoff for his cooperation --
and received at least some reward from Gov't already. Film on all
nets.

Kennedy's amnesty hearings on all nets as sharply opposing views
come from war resister and from a dead GI's father whose testimony
was one of most effective and articulate such counters to John Kerry
