After 6 hours, Tass announced the crash in a 5-line report that didn't mention ground casualties. - - "Deadly ship collision" in New York Harbor under Verazzano Narrows Bridge w/ 8 killed. Led NBC Sat. and some Sunday papers w/ film on all nets of the spectacular, A-bomb-like flames. High on p. 1 of Sun. Star w/ photo was story on 41 injured slightly when a tourmobile overturned in Arlington Cemetery. The 1st POW to commit suicide, AF Capt Brudno, died Sun. He'd have celebrated his 1st birthday Monday as a free man since returning from over 7 years in POW camps. In stories strongly denied by WH which charged apparent "strategy by individual to prosecute RN in press, 11 both Times and Post featured reports Sun. that Dean has told the Ervin Comm. he met w/ RN, alone and in small groups, 35-40 times between late Jan. and late April to discuss coverup.
