Jordan's PM Al-Rifai on Today said Israeli-Syrian disengagement
was complicated, but if there are chances for success, HAK has the
best chance to succeed. He agreed when asked if he had "that much
confidence" in HAK.
Al-Rifai had no inside info re: embargo lift but has heard a
decision to end it was made a few days ago on an individual basis.
On CBS AM, UP said he understood it'd be lifted. Al-Rifai said
Jordan has made some proposals for Jordanian-Israeli disengagement
which would initially include an Israeli pullback from Jordan River.
There's been no Israeli reaction so far, tho. Asked if HAK would
participate in such negotiations, Al-Rifai "sincerely hopes' SO and
he thinks HAK would have to be involved to the very end. He denied
Jordan has any specific ideas for resolving question about Jerusalem
but said there must be Arab sovereignty for Arab sector. He also
commented it doesn't have to be a divided city.
