USAF BELL X-2 on the ground--plane being attached
to "mother" B-50--B-50 taxis,taking off and in flight--"mother"plane
drops the X-2 and it glides to ground (not using power at all,Just
gliding)--landing, coming to halt on skis
INFORMATION: (This
successor to the K-1A--It was built to probe the thermal barrier,as a
flying research laboratory--to investigate probéems beyond the speed
sound ans to surpass speed of 1650 MPH-- "mother"plane carries vehicle
to specified altitude where it begins its flight on its own power--th
conserves fuel and power for longer flight--skis replace wheeis
