Washington Briefing Update
We would like to thank all the members of The Partnership's Advisory Council
who participated in the recent Washington Briefing. We are sorry that not
all of you could attend this informative exchange with key Administration
officials and Members of Congress. We were excited with the response from
both groups and look forward to bringing everyone back within the next few
months.
Below we have outlined the key messages that The Partnership heard our
Business Partners convey to key welfare to work policy leaders:
Responsible use of TANF and other federal welfare to work funds. The
Partnership's members have made great progress in a few short years, but
they call on the government to come to the table with additional supports
for workers leaving the welfare rolls. In particular, states with unspent
TANF block grant funds are strongly encouraged to direct them toward
resources our employers say they need to get the job done right: more child
care and transportation for their new hires, additional skills training
(both pre- and post-employment) and more. Until these funds are maximized
for purposes directly related to preparing welfare recipients for work, our
