OFFICE OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
November 5, 1998
From the Office of the Director
NOTE TO: Jennifer Klein
Office of the First Lady
2nd Floor, West Wing
SUBJECT: OPM's Family-Friendly Workplace Advocacy Office
Leigh Shein asked me to send you some material on OPM's new Family-
Friendly Workplace Advocacy Office that was established by our 1999
appropriations language. I've included the actual appropriations language and
part of our budget submission to OMB where we explain what the office will do.
As you probably know, OPM has actually had a work/life programs office for
several years. This congressional mandate will simply add some new
responsibilities to it (serving as an "ombudsman" for employees).
To give you a better picture about what this office is currently doing, I've
included some of their literature.
Please give me a call if you'd like to discuss this or need any more information.
My telephone number (202) 606-1704.

Friendly Workplact
