MEMORANDUM TO: JENNIFER KLEIN FROM: ToM FREEDMAN, x65587 RE: COMPUTERS IN PUBLIC HOUSING DATE: JUNE 2, 1997 Attached is the information on "Neighborhood Networks" that I mentioned to you. The program uses computer technology to help residents of insured and assisted housing become more self-sufficient by making computer hardware and software available to residents. If you are looking for an event, they should be opening a new space in Arlington, VA-- Strawbridge Square. It will work mostly with a mixed-ethnic group, mostly children. Otherwise, you can see they have various successful programs already in the country (see clips) that might make for good visits. I know pretty much about it, and have met with folks from HUD so please feel free to give me a call. Cuomo announced, I believe, that they are going to be expanding the program dramatically.
