MRS. CLINTON OPENS THE DISCUSSION. Suggested individuals to
call on:
Margaret Loesch, President, FOX Children's Network
[Margaret Loesch is the founding President of Fox Children's
Network. Loesch handpicked such shows as "X-Men," "
"Goosebumps," the Emmy-Award winning "Where in the World
is Carmen San Diego," and "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers."
Loesch was responsible for the roll-out of the Cub House
children's educational programming block each weekday at
8:30 am on FOX. This was the first weekday educational
programming on any network since "Captain Kangaroo" went
off the air. The average FOX affiliate shows an average of 4
hours a week of educational kids programming.]
Dr. Alvin Poussaint, Professor of Psychiatry, Judge Baker Children's
Center.
[Dr. Poussaint is the Director of the Media Center for Children
at the Judge Baker Children's Center. He also was a consultant
to the Cosby Show.]

o We have been reminded today that television can just as readily
be a powerful positive force in our culture as it can be a negative

sure that we harness that force in ways that contribute to the
development of our children.
