Ford Alex Trotman Ford Motor Company Chairman Of The Board The American Road P.O. Box 1899 Dearborn, Michigan 48121-1899 December 8, 1994 Ms. Margaret A. Williams Chief of Staff to the First Lady The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20500 Dear Ms. Williams: Thank you for your letter of November 16 and for your invitation to join the Board of the White House Endowment Fund. I am honored to be invited to participate on the Board established to help complete the endowment drive of $25 million to preserve the great public rooms of the White House, but in all candor I must decline. For 1995, I have already agreed to serve as national corporate chairman for the Phillips Collection's annual drive, as well as national chairman for the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies. In light of these two national campaigns, I will be unable actively to help the White House Endowment Fund solicit for its funds next year. I am sure you can understand my predicament; I fear I would wear out my welcome everywhere if I undertook such an endeavor at this time and I would not wish to accept if unable to render my best efforts. Please extend to the President and Mrs. Clinton my most sincere regrets, and hopefully I may be of some service in the future. Sincerely, Mix Mman. Ford Ford Motor Company The American Road P.O.
