VINCENT INFIRMARY MEDICAL CENTER MEDIA STATEMENT, WEDNESDAY APRIL 7. 1993 LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS -- At 8:35 p.m., CDT, April 7, 1993, Mr. Hugh Rodham of Little Rock, Arkansas, died. Mr. Rodham had been hospitalized at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center since suffering a stroke at his home Friday, March 19. The Rodham family wishes to extend its heartfelt appreciation for the many prayers that have been offered, and the many expressions of concern received from throughout Arkansas, the nation and the world. When complete, funeral arrangements will be announced by the First Lady's Press Office. Lce Vice-President Craig Johnson General Manager Mr. Hugh Ellsworth Rodham A native of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Rodham was born on April 2, 1911. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1935 with a bachelor of science degree in physical education and was a member of the varsity football team. Rodham first worked at the Scranton Lace Company and then moved to Chicago where he worked in a drapery and curtain business. In Chicago, Rodham met his future wile, Dorothy Howell of Alhambra, California, in 1937. The couple married in 1942. After serving as a Navy basic training instructor during World War II, Rodham returned to Chicago where he started a Lextile business. In 1970, he retired and he and his wife remained in Park Ridge, Illinois until moving to Little Rock, Arkansas in 1987. Services: Friday funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, in charge of Reverends Ed Matthews and Victor Nixon.
