Dear Liz:
As we discussed, I have enclosed a series of pictures dealing with Team Nutrition for the
slide show for the First Lady's slide show. They're pretty self-explanatory; the two pictures of
the First Lady with the Team Nutrition logo in the background are from our launch event in June
of last year; the other, of her speaking with a child who seems to be offering her a sandwich, is
from a separate school visit.
The remainder of the pictures show a variety of Team Nutrition activities, including
nutrition education activities developed by Team Nutrition partners, tastings of fresh produce,
volunteer chefs demonstrating nutritionally-improved recipes, and visits to Team Nutrition
gardens, where children learn about "where food comes from" by planting and growing their own
vegetables. The one enclosed slide is a picture of Chef Alice Waters, from Chez Panisse; she has
been active in Team Nutrition out in Berkeley, and is, I believe, a friend of the First Lady's.
We are really pleased that you want to include Team Nutrition in the slide show, and I
hope that some of these will be useful. When you are finished with them, you can keep them, or
return them to me. If you need to know, I would be happy to find out the cost of reprints. If
additional pictures or other information would be helpful, please let me know.
