The Honorable Bill Clinton
President of the United States
The White House
Washington DC 20500
Dear Mr. President:
The paper I enclose, simply titled "Economic Growth," is my best effort in describing the
crisis in capitalism that we see manifest these days in massive underemployment. It is SO much
different than anything you are likely to see from conventional sources, left or right, that I send it
in hopes it will help you better understand our country's core problem -- a contraction of real
wages that really began 30 years ago.
There are many possible solutions to the problem, but unless you get the diagnosis right,
the chances of stumbling into the right prescription are dramatically reduced. I tried to write the
enclosed with you especially in mind. If you find time to tackle it, I think you will at least find it
provocative. I'm afraid there are no conventional solutions to the problem.
Sincerely,
