THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON April 25, 1994 MEMORANDUM FOR ALL EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT STAFF FROM: DAVID WATKINS P. water ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT FOR MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION SUBJECT: CLOSING OF GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS AND AGENCIES ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27, 1994 In honor and remembrance of the late former President Richard M. Nixon, on April 23 the President issued an Executive Order to excuse Federal employees from duty for the scheduled workday on Wednesday, April 27, 1994. With the exception of essential personnel, EOP staff members are excused from work on Wednesday. All staff should check with their individual department heads regarding staffing requirements for this holiday. The White House Staff Mess will be open but will offer limited services on Wednesday. Carry-out services for coffee and pastries will be available from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. A limited dining room service menu will be available from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with carry-out service beginning at 11:30 a.m. No evening meals will be served.
