Dear Ms Boyd:
Enclosed please find information which my office recently
received regarding Shared Visions: The Pine Ridge Building
Summit.
Shared Visions is a new program sponsored by the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development which strives to
increase home ownership for Native Americans. It aims to do so
by: facilitating production and delivery of housing, providing
mortgage assistance, organizing a Citizens Volunteer Corps to
build and renovate reservation homes, and encouraging
partnerships between government, private, and nonprofit agencies
to aid the cause. The Pine Ridge Indian Reservation of the
Oglala Lakota Tribe of South Dakota has been chosen as the pilot
location to implement the Shared Visions program through a
building summit July 30th to August 7th, 1999.
It occurred to me that your organization may be interested
in this program. Please review the enclosed information. If you
have any further questions or your organization is interested in
participating, please contact my office.
Sincerely,
Karen Kareee A. Tramontano
