Letter from M. R. Watkinson, Minister of the Gospel to S. P. Chase, Secretary of the Treasury

In this letter, Reverend Watkinson proposes that a recognition of God is placed on the national coinage. He recommends that the goddess Liberty be replaced with thirteen stars and the words "Perpetual Union", the coinage would also include the words "God, Liberty, Law."
