Letter from James Armstrong Thorne, Huntly Lodge, Edinburgh, [Scotland], to William Lloyd Garrison, 1867 July 17

James Armstrong Thome writes to William Lloyd Garrison informing him that he is requested to "be present at the City Council Chambers at 1/4 to 12 tomorrow, and be preparted to respond to the address, which will be made to you, in a brief speech." He says that while he cannot attend, "Mrs. [Elizabeth Pease] Nichols [sic] will be expected be present, with other friends".
