Letter from James F. Otis, Portland, [Maine], to William Lloyd Garrison, 1833 Nov[ember] 23

James Frederick Otis writes to William Lloyd Garrison asking if December 4 "has been ultimately fixed as the day for the holding of the Convention in Philadelphia" [that established the American Anti-Slavery Society]. Otis states, "We shall send a strong deputation from the 'Star in the East.' You know our motto is 'Dirigo.'"
