Source Description

Mary Clark writes to Maria Weston Chapman in regards to rejoicing over a "complete triumph of principle" and thanks the "brethren & sisters in Massachusetts for a "stoutly fought and bravely won" battle against the clergy over anti-slavery matters. The anti-slavery fair goes on "well. We shall give you a particular account after the battle is over," says Clark. She continues to sympathize with the feelings of fugitive slaves who arrive "on the Canada shore." She writes that those who are not in agreement are "organizing in Mr. Noyes' meeting house."
