Source Description

Andrew Paton informs William Lloyd Garrison of the decision of the British branch of Evangelical Alliance to exclude slaveholders from its membership ranks, arguing that a slaveholder could not be a Christian. Paton states that he will post to Garrison a collection of London newspapers, including the edition of the Patriot containing Dr. Wardlow's letter regarding Christians being slaveholders. Paton requests that Garrison make efforts to have slaveholders excluded from the Evangelical Alliance in Canada.
