This letter was written on the margins of a printed circular letter dated February 1, 1859, describing Hinton Rowan Helper's book, The Impending Crisis of the South. On page three, there is another circular letter by thirteen abolitionists and politicians, dated Feb. 1, 1859, endorsing Helper's book.
On page four, there is a postscript by Helper that reads: "Please take no notice of this circular in the Liberator.
