Elizabeth Buffum Chace begins this letter: "I wish thee, my beloved friend, to enrol[l] my name among those who have inhabited under the banner of the Prince of Peace, those who labor for the coming of that day, when 'the kingdoms of the world shall become the kingdoms of our Lord and of his Christ.'' She explains at length why she didn't join the Non-Resistant Society before. She warns Maria Weston Chapman of the "diversity of opinion" among the members of the various female anti-slavery societies. Chace believes: "The Mass. women need talking to, and it can be best done by a woman."
