Sophia Hawthorne autograph letter signed to James Thomas Fields, [Concord], 28 July 1868
Was amazed to see a letter in a newspaper purporting to be from Hawthorne to [Francis] Bennoch on the subject of the Civil War. Is trying to find what Smith & Elder gave for Our Old Home. For Hawthorne's letter cf. Hawthorne, Julian, Hawthorne and his Wife, v.2, p.291.
