inscriptions
inscription
engraved in the center of the cup is a demi-lion, rampant passant, holding an unknown object on an irregularly shaped shield surrounded by baroque manteling. In style, it is appropriate for date of cup but does not appear a true coat of arms. On the lid is a crest consisting of a demi-lion, rampant passant, between open buffalo horns. These heraldic devices perhaps refer to some entity rather than an individual.
inscription
Hallmarks stamped on lid: "G", two unidentifiable, "H".
