Source Description

Palden Remati, a form of the female protector Lhamo, is depicted entirely with symbols: a club, a halo of flames, and a blood-filled skull cup (that of a child born from an incestuous union, the kind of skull considered to have the greatest powers). In rituals, deities are invoked through words and with utensils. A tangka such as this one suggests similar beliefs.
