Source Description

The scene portrayed is a barnyard containing cattle and sheep. One cow is being milked by a farmer seated on a stool. Behind him are various farm structures, a cow barn, a dilapidated shed, and a house with a smoking chimney nestled amidst trees. In the immediate right foreground is a duck pond. Wilson depicted the same buildings in his "A Farmyard, Surrey" illustrated in the advertisement of Vicars Brothers, "Apollo" 19 (1934): 114.
