Source Description

A violent thunderstorm has arisen in the Roman Campagna, causing a peasant family wearing the distinctive "Ciociara" costume of the region to seek refuge beneath a tree. Also sheltering are a couple of monks lost in the shadows. Flashes of lightening momentarily illuminate the scene, revealing a cross silhouetted against the sky at the left and a gleaming tower at the right.
