Tetradrachm of Lilybaeum

late 4th century BCE (Early Hellenistic) Max diam: 15/16 in. (2.35 cm); axis: 6:00 Citation

Obverse: Head of Herakles, wearing lion skin, right. Reverse: Horse head, left; palm tree in field to right. The unusual thickness of the coin and the quality of the metal may indicate that this coin is not an authentic ancient piece.
