Fuchi with Seven Sages in a Bamboo Grove
This motif derives from seven scholars in Chinese during the 3rd century who withdrew from society. The fuchi shows four sages (one of whom is on the reverse) and a page boy. The other three sages on the kashira, Walters 51.987.
