Wheel-Lock Pistol of Louis XIII of France

1635-1640 (Baroque) 27 15/16 in. (71 cm) Citation Source image

This pistol is one of a pair documented as having belonged to King Louis XIII of France (1601-1643). The artistry of the restrained decoration with the brass wire and silver foliage against the pear wood is exquisite.
