This bronze stauette of a rearing horse with an Amazon rider decorated the top of a cauldron of the kind that was made in Southern Italy, chiefly at the city of Capua, in the period shortly after 500 BCE. A bridle and a horse collar with tassels are indicated, but reins are not shown. The object has long been detached from the cauldron and has a bright green patina.
