Source Description

The scene depicted on this tsuba is reminiscent of Chinese landscape paintings. On the right, two figures walk up a mountain path. These are a scholar and his servant. They are going to a mountain hut, where the scholar will have solitude to study. Mountains and trees are shown along the right at top edge. At the bottom, a man in a boat is shown in a river. On the reverse are suggestions of the landscape.
