This small chopping tool is of unknown use. The ivory handle is decorated with red and black punching. The Damascus steel blade has openwork panels with inscriptions at the tang. The Arabic inscription includes the date 1189 Hijra (AD 1775-1776) and a portion of a Qur'anic verse.
