Southern France, under Italianate influence, circa 1275-1300, or north Italian center subject to French influence; San Lorenzo at Bibbiena, Tuscany, 15th/16th century (fol. 1r, below marginal miniature + see Remarks); post-medieval additions of Giovanelli and Colleoni families (fol. 1r); Count Dimitri Boutourlin, Florence, armorial bookplate on front pastedown, not identifiable in his posthumous sale, Catalogue de la bibliothèque de feu M. le Cte. D. Boutourlin (Paris, Silvestre, in three parts, beginning respectively 25 November 1839, 16 November 1840, 14 October 1841); modern penciled notations: 'dyyz / 1000' (fol. a); long notice about importance of manuscript on account of inclusion of Giovanelli and Colleoni arms, etc. (fol. av); Henry Walters, Baltimore, ca. 1900-1931, by purchase from unidentified source, possibly Leo S. Olschki. This book corresponds to an ownership notation entered in an early 14th century north Italian compilation of select works by Aristotle bought by Henry Walters from Leo S. Olschki in Florence about 1912. It appears from the two identically worded inscriptions, written in the late 15th or early 16th century in the same hand, that the two volumes were shelved in the library side by side in the sixth cupboard to the right. At the end of both texts, the number of folios and quires is entered in an identical format. Also of note in W.161 is an early title notation in Italian below the end of the text.
